Name List Compiling Business Opportunities
 A very common opportunity advertised in home based business magazines and websites is for list compilers. These ads promise a work from home opportunity
that allows you to make money simply by compiling lists of names and addresses. In theory, all you've got to do is compile your lists, and send them off to the company responsible for the ad. The names are used for mailing lists, and you are paid for each name. A typical claim is a pay rate of 50 cents per name. In theory, this is an easy work at home opportunity.
In reality, this is just a variation of a much older scam.
Legit Listing Compiling Jobs
Much like envelope stuffing opportunities, there is nothing legit about list compiling jobs. Think about it for a moment. Why on earth would a company pay you to compile untargeted, unverified names when they do it much better with their own resources? That this opportunity sounds too good to be true should be a hint this is a scam.
However, this one still seems to take money away from individuals who are seeking to work from home. Like envelope stuffing, you are told to reply to an ad with a specified fee. Although real jobs do not require a fee, this draws many people in.
After sending in your fee, you will actually receieve information explaining how to get paid 50 cents per name you compile. Exactly like the envelope stuffing scams, this information basically tells you to make an exact copy of the ad you replied to and promote it. In other words, you are told to sell people the same scam you just wasted your money on.
This is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and there has never been a legit job behind these nonsensical ads. Do not bother replying to ads of this sort. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than making money a name list compiler.
